Design Of Fabricated Steam Jackets

Industries uses major of their containers to heat substances to be cylindrical in shape. To maintain its content with the temperature they need, these buffers are fitted with a casing which is capable of circulating the steam all around the space between the jacket and the vessel. This is a form of indirect heating of the substances. The design of fabricated steam jackets takes into account the following considerations.

The casing can be fully continuous or discontinuous. They are identified differently on a plan since the nature of lines indicating them are different. Continuous means that all parts are covered including flanges, tees and welded parts while the opposite is the case for discontinuous. The type of insulation is indicated at the end of the lines to stipulate the vapor lines.

The hot water fumes are circulated by a system of pipes all-round the enveloped structure. The inlet vapor supply is enclosed at one side to act as a trapper. It enables to push the condensate toward the collection manifold. The area of exchange should be sufficient to obtain desired results. The header has to be at a higher elevation from the collector pipe. This is to allow self-draining of that fluid.

Since there are two different categories of housing, the circuits layouts and connections vary. There are instances of having a jump over to connect a tapping point which is below to an adjacent section. They also carry the fumes and cooled water. The arrangement is such that is there are vertical pipes they should not exceed one meter. The layout should reduce the potential of condensate becoming semi solid.

When considering this sort of a project, the specification of that company has to be adhered to. Any section that is welded has to be easy accessed for the purpose of testing after fitting the system together. The control valves should be able to handle the inlet capacities when it is at the maximum and also during the low flow rate at the exit.

The material used to produce this kind of structure is the stainless steel to make the fittings and the piping. Due to the high temperatures involves at some of that industrial process, other material can be invented to fill the gap since they are capable of resisting corrosion. Specification by the company executing the work should be followed.

Testing of these works is necessary to ensure it is safe to use the system. Hydrostatic testing is done for the housing before applying the water fumes in it. Inspection by observation is require to make sure the piping standards have been met. This should not be destructive. This process is important as it gives the go ahead to implement the invention.

It is evident from the above that the process involving erection of such a system is detailed. There are regulations and specifications which should be followed per the company which in involved in the project. The layout, fitting and material used has to be suitable for proper service of the arrangement.
