The Top 3 Tumblr Myths That Exist In Long Island Advertising

Tumblr is, without question, one of the most unique websites on the social media front. In fact, one can argue that it's so unique that it can't be used for business purposes like Facebook or LinkedIn could. This reputation is unfounded, though, as Tumblr can make a considerable difference for any Long Island advertising strategy. If you're still not sold, here are the top 3 Tumblr myths that, simply put, don't hold water.

"There aren't very many people on Tumblr." If you think that Tumblr's audience too small to make it a justifiable investment, think again. There are more than 2.6 million registered users on the site today, along with 432 million blogs and counting. This is also one of the most heavily used platforms on a daily basis, with an average of 22 minutes being spent on the site per visit. Not only is this audience sizable, but it's heavily involved in the platform to boot.

"There are only kids and teenagers on Tumblr." One of the notable aspects of Tumblr is its younger audience compared to other social media channels. This doesn't mean that it's used exclusively by kids and teenagers, which many people assume. In fact, it's used by individuals of different age groups, backgrounds, locations, and so forth. With a large portion of Tumblr's audience being college-educated or enrolled in college, promotional endeavors aren't out of the question.

"Americans use Tumblr the most." This is another commonly spread belief that, when examined closer, isn't entirely accurate. While a large degree of traffic on Tumblr is domestic, it only accounts for about 42 percent. Not only is this site used by those in the United States, but Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and so forth. Americans aren't the only ones using Tumblr, which companies along the lines of fishbat can attest as well.

"Marketing on Tumblr is pointless." Many people view Tumblr as a hobbyist platform, at best, that most business owners will see marketing on it as pointless. This couldn't be any further from the truth, especially for those that have spent ample time on this website. What should be noted, though, is that a different approach will be required. If you use the same tactics that are employed on other social media channels, you're unlikely to see the results that you're looking for.
