A Background On The Old English Bulldog Breeders

By Carl Wallace

Based on the history, the origin of these was believed to be coming from those ancient war dogs such as the Alaunt or the old Mastiff. While there are some as well who believed that until now, the origin remains unclear. But some depictions have been seen in some old prints, showing the variety, in no doubts, was small Mastiff having a long head. But eventually, the breed was crossed with Greyhound.

There are other two recognized of this breed such as the Rosa and the Crib. Ideally, a Rosa is exemplifying both the form and size of Old English Bulldog. Exhibitions were being conducted in Maryland and these have allowed the specialized breed in English blood sport of bull baiting. There are a lot of popular Old English Bulldog breeders Maryland and of them was Bill George, a famous dog dealer during that time.

There are a lot of breeders now who have been trying to have this extinct breed recreated in success. However, achieving the OEB type can be hard because the breed has extinct genetics. But there is this one contemporary recreation for the breed which was being done through a particular breeding program. The lineage has resulted into a half bulldog and a half American bulldog and Bullmastiff.

Usually, this breed may be confused with the bulldogs. A bulldog acquires the characteristic of sweet disposition, however, a little speed and agility is still maintained, which are both considered as definitive characteristics of the Old English Bulldogs. Other types of recreations are the Aylestone, Able, Wilkinson, Continental, Spanish, Victorian bulldogs, etc.

The Olde English Bulldogges are known to be docile. However, they are protective, athletic, determined, bold, capable, fearless, fierce looking, courageous, friendly especially when they are with their family and their friends. They become fearless adversaries when it comes to those who will threaten their property or their masters.

These breeds would love to have something, and thus, providing them with plenty of toys and of bones would be recommended. Nylabones and as well as Kong toys are suggested to be given. Avoid on giving them stuffed toys, rawhides, and soft rubber since these can be unsafe as the items may be shredded or swallowed easily.

They are so eager on pleasing that they may possibly overexert themselves in making an effort for doing whatever is being asked to them. It would be very important for the owners to display natural authority to their dogs, and as well as obedience and socialization training. It would be best to channel those high energy individuals into works and exercises.

To train a dog would be very important and this training has its main objective of achieving the pack leader status. The dogs have natural instincts to have orders in packs. So whenever humans would decide living with dogs, their pack would be the humans. All the packs are required to cooperate under a single leader.

With this, to define and to set lines and rules would be highly necessary. Usually, a dog communicates displeasure through eventually growling and biting, and thus, humans must try to be higher than dogs. So decisions are to be made by the owners and not by the dogs.
